Area: Varies per building.
Site & Program: Geneva is home to a rich history of architecture. Nagle Hartray designed three commercial/retail projects in downtown Geneva for local developer ShoDeen.
Design: The first project, Dodson Place, is a 90,000 s.f. commercial/retail development organized around the historic Dodson House, renovated as part of the development. Dodson House uniquely blends local stone construction with shingle style architecture popularized on the east coast. Thus, new structures are rendered in native stone and shingle and clap board siding.
The new buildings frame a courtyard with Dodson House as its focus. Shingle eyebrow openings identify pedestrian tunnels connecting the street and the courtyard.
Dodson Building #8 involved an 18,000 s.f. mixed-use development which includes commercial use on the first floor and two floors of residential above. Parking is below grade. The project is located across the street from Dodson Place.
Our firm also designed a one-story retail building on the corner adjacent to both Dodson Place and Dodson Building #8 which completes the complex.
