Site & Program: The Ogden International School of Chicago is located on the Near North Side. This new K-8 public school is a modified prototype design of three stories.
Design: Nagle Hartray provided Architect of Record Services for the Public Building Commission of Chicago and Chicago Public Schools for this project. The design completion effort for this school included the realization of an underground parking garage, a rooftop playground, and terrace level monumental stair and playground. Also a part of design completion was the interior architecture inspired by the school’s international philosophy, including a world map rendered with terrazzo depicted over the length of the building corridor at each floor.
As the Architect of Record we were responsible for designing to LEED Gold Certification and have been able to reach this benchmark by utilizing green roofs, a stormwater harvesting systems for landscaping irrigation, a building integrated (the state's first) photovoltaic glazed panel system at the feature window wall at the school’s library, and a kiosk monitoring these innovations in real time.
